I thought that I had learned how to cook an egg in the microwave.

I was wrong.

Is it tomorrow yet?

scholastic book ordersBack in elementary school we used to get these things from Scholastic Books in school every so often. Book orders. I would try and budget my orders as much as possible, so that my mom could review them, and after she’d sign I’d go ahead and add a few more books to the order. I’d turn them in the next day at school, then be in for a few weeks of waiting before the shipments arrived.

Somehow, the day before the books came, the teachers always knew exactly when the books would be there. I guess now I’d have to assume that they probably received them before hand and just had to sort out who had ordered what. Whatever the case was, I could never get to sleep on those nights. I’d try so hard, lay as still as possible, and could just never sleep while I was waiting for my literary gems, such as R.L. Stein’s Goosebumps and Wacky Mad Libs, to come in.

It turns out that I haven’t changed. Except now I get to track my shipment through the UPS website. Later today, at some unknown time, I’ll receive my materials to begin class. Raise your hand if you get excited to receive a dictionary in the mail!

Same as it ever was.

Actually, it’s not like I’ve been sleeping lately anyway. Not during normal hours, that is. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve gone to bed before the sun rose. Yesterday I went to sleep at 3. In the afternoon. Eventually the pattern will correct itself, and then eventually it will go back to the same thing. It’s nothing new.

It’s become painfully obvious that I’ve been pretty much void of any work for the last couple of months, and I’ve finally become tired of waiting.

Within the last 5 days I’ve begun three blogs, bought three domain names, one hosting subscription, paid $1,500 down on a medical transcription course, cleaned the house, watched the first series of Mahoromatic, saved many lives in Trauma Center, held a personal Steve Martin fan-fest, been glued to NHK, and learned how to say “I WANT __!” in Japanese. What the hell.

Quite honestly, I don’t know if I’ve been making the right decisions. For two periods throughout the day, there are certain frames of time which I cannot think rationally, nor can I remember much of anything. Once in the morning, and then during the wee bit I stay up longer than I should. And although I have been staying busy, the days seem long. I haven’t reached the point of insanity tonight, yet. I’ll get there.

All in all, aside from the down payment to the school I’ll be attending, I think I’ve made pretty good use of my time. Although, I can’t seem to shake the feeling that it’s going to be hard to keep up with the blogging thing. It’s fun, to an extent, but I’m not doing it without money on my mind.

I’ve also been trying to keep up with what’s going on with Amazon Affiliates. I haven’t kept up with it for a year, and just found out that almost exactly one year ago Colorado has been given the ban-hammer on their affiliates program (ban-hammer is a term I learned from playing idiotic MMO games that I obviously have no resentment for). This is due to changes in tax laws, and so instead of Amazon complying with the laws, they decided to just disregard Colorado as a potential for affiliate candidates. Fucking bummer.

But news has it, at this time, California is thinking about passing similar laws. At this time, it sounds like California has about 10,000 associate affiliate members within their state. If they throw down the ban on California, I don’t expect many people to be happy with them. If they decide to screw over another 10 thousand peoples incomes, I’ll just write them an angry letter. Dear Amazon, I won’t buy the things I wasn’t going to buy from you in the first place. Ha!

Definitions, revisited: weblog, My little secret

Psssh. The word “blog” is just a shortened term for “web log.” How disappointing. Oh well. On the bright side, with this second post and my new found knowledge of blogs, I hereby define these writings as a not-so-carefully compiled “blog!” Yay!

I started on a blog at typepad earlier today, but then I lost interest in their lack of free stuff and moved to WordPress. The typepad address? http://carriehahn.typepad.com. Overly entertaining blog value in that one.

I’ve attached a video. This’ll help you understand. Pay attention!

And now I know how to embed a youtube video. Good for me.

Hmm? You say something? My secret? Oh. That.

The secret is that I can’t keep my own secrets. I make no follies when keeping the secrets of others, but when I have my own I can’t help but feel the need to tell someone. Oh, how I love validation.

I began this blog in secret, privacy settings to the max. A few hours after my first post, someone must’ve relieved those settings of their duties. So here I am, secret free.

Not good enough? The real secret has already been given away elsewhere in this post. I can’t just shout it out, I haven’t even formulated an opinion about it yet.
